Neuro Center PELNI Hospital
The Neuro Center of PELNI Hospital is a specialized practice for neurology and neurosurgery, staffed by highly trained professionals with high-standard clinical and academic qualifications. They specialize in treating a wide range of brain, spine, and other neurological disorders.
Supported by a team of Neurosurgeon Specialists who adhere to evidence-based scientific and clinical knowledge, thorough consideration, and the best state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgical techniques, we provide access to cutting-edge care for patients, aiming to deliver the best outcomes with minimal risk.
Minimally invasive surgical techniques that can be performed include:
- DSA, Carotid Stenting
- Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) is an examination that provides images of the inner surface of brain blood vessels, including arteries, veins, and capillaries.
- DSA is an endovascular procedure that is the standard for all vascular interventions in the brain. Usually, DSA is performed as a follow-up to other imaging data such as CT-Scans or MRIs. The DSA technique is performed in a special room called a cath lab, with a procedure using a thin tube inserted through a blood vessel in the groin.
- Carotid stenting is a procedure to open narrowed arteries to restore blood flow to the brain. Carotid stenting is often performed to prevent recurrent strokes.
- Intra Arterial Thrombolysis
- This procedure is performed by injecting a substance that can dissolve blood clots that risk blocking blood vessels.
- Thrombolysis is usually effective in treating cases of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) due to blood clots and strokes.
- Coiling
- Brain aneurysms are abnormalities where there is a bulging or swollen vessel wall resembling a sac, either due to damaged blood vessel structure or weakness of the blood vessel wall.
- Coiling is a catheterization method through blood vessels to attach a coil of very fine metal fibers to the aneurysm bubble. The coil will block blood flow so that blood will not flow into the bubble.
- Thrombectomy
- This procedure is a treatment for stroke through blood vessel catheterization. This thrombectomy procedure can remove blood clots from blocked brain blood vessels so that blood flow becomes smooth again.
- The general steps of the procedure are as follows:
- A catheter will be inserted into a large blood vessel in the groin, then directed upwards until it reaches the blocked brain blood vessel.
- Using X-ray imaging, a mechanical device, namely a stent retriever and/or aspiration catheter, is used to trap the blocking clot. The clot is then pulled out of the body to restore blood flow to normal.
